However, it is also important to visit your dentist to make sure that there aren\u2019t any irregularities within your mouth, such as oral cancer. This April,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/dentalassociatesofdelaware.com\/\">Dental Associates of Delaware<\/a>&nbsp;is proud to join the Oral Cancer Foundation in attempts to raise awareness about oral cancer. We highly encourage you to read on about the disease and how you can do your best to prevent oral cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oral Cancer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A lot of people may be surprised to know that oral cancer kills nearly one person every hour of every day of the year. Even more surprising is that only about 60% of people that are diagnosed with this type of cancer will survive longer than five years. These can be some terrifying statistics. According to the American Association of Oral Surgeons the survival rate for oral cancer is so low due to the fact that it is often detected in late stages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Early Detection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The best thing that a person can do to detect oral cancer at the earliest stage is to submit to regular screenings. It is important that people visit their dentist regularly for their periodic dental examinations. These exams not only help to detect cavities and gum disease; but they also allow early detection of oral cancer.
