We always have a dentist on call after hours in case any of these emergencies occur. An urgent emergency can include the following:

A permanent tooth that’s loose or knocked out

A painful, persistent, and unmanageable toothache

A broken tooth

A cut mouth, lip, tongue, or cheek that has been bleeding for over 15 minutes

Major trauma or injury to your face, mouth, or teeth

Infection or swelling of your gums, mouth, or face

If you experience any of the above problems, please call our office immediately. Also, if you’re unsure whether your emergency classifies as an urgent one, please give us a call as soon as possible so we can determine the severity of your situation.

For Non-Urgent Emergencies

In the case of a nonurgent emergency, your plan of action should be to give us a call when we’re back in office. Some examples of these nonurgent emergencies include:

Lost fillings or crowns

Dull tooth pain

A damaged retainer

While it’s important for you to see a dentist as soon as possible, it’s not critical that you’re seen immediately if you happen to have one of these non-urgent emergencies.

Quick Tips for Reducing Pain or Discomfort

If you find yourself suffering from any kind of toothaches, here are a few easy ways to reduce your pain or discomfort.

Use a cold compress to numb the pain and reduce any swelling.

If you have pain around a certain tooth, you should try flossing; sometimes the pain is caused by food that got trapped in your teeth.

Mix about a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and use it as a mouthwash to lessen any irritation.

Contact Your Dentist in Brandywine, Hockessin, Middletown, Wilmington, Millsboro, or Ocean View, DE!

If you would like to schedule an appointment with us, give us a call at (302) 477-4900 for our Brandywine office, (302) 239-5917 for our Hockessin office, (302) 378-8600 for our Middletown office, (302) 658-9511 for our Wilmington office, (302) 934-8005 for our Millsboro office, or (302) 537-4500 for our Ocean View office.
