If you’re having trouble, here are four ways to make it easier.
Drink Warm Water
The gentle pressure Invisalign puts on your teeth can make them sore. This is normal, but you can find some relief by drinking cold water. That said, this makes your aligners less flexible. If you try taking them out right after, then you might struggle a bit. You can wait for your mouth to warm back up or drink lukewarm water.
Start from Your Back Teeth
When you are removing your trays, it’s best to do it from the back. Loosening them from your molars is oftentimes much easier compared to doing it on your front teeth. Use your finger to shimmy them off on both sides, and you might have an easier time popping them off.
Use a Towel or Glove
Invisalign can be slippery when wet, so if you can’t get a good grip, then use a towel or glove. They can absorb extra moisture and help you grab onto the edge. That way, you can take them out and dig into your food or do your oral hygiene routine.
Try an Aligner Hook
If you’re still having trouble after trying out the tips above, then consider getting an aligner hook. You can find this tool online or at your local department store. It’s a plastic hook with a ring where you put your finger. Position the end at the back of your tray and gently pull away. Try not to do it too hard; that way, you don’t hurt yourself in the process.
When you find a method that works for you, then it’s best to stick with it. You might have to combine a few, but they can make removing your Invisalign easier than before. That way, you don’t struggle with this part of your treatment and enjoy a smoother experience.
