Get to Know Dr. George Bennitt

Despite growing up in Pennsylvania, Dr. Bennitt has had a deep connection to the area where he once spent 12 summers as a lifeguard with the Bethany Beach Patrol. Now he gets to serve local families in a different way, one that allows him to make connections that lead to long-term friendships as well as healthy, attractive smiles, enabling his patients to form the same warm memories he did.

Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?

“I always enjoyed going to our family dentist as a kid. But it wasn't until years later, while working in medical device sales and having candid conversations with orthopedic surgeons, that I truly considered going into healthcare, specifically dentistry as a profession.”

Where Did You Study Dentistry?

Dr. Bennitt graduated from Colgate University in 2009 with a degree in Biology, where he distinguished himself as a member of the men’s swimming team. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree from the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City. Following his dental education, he proudly served as an active-duty commissioned officer with the United States Navy Dental Corps. During his tenure, he provided dedicated care to sailors, soldiers, marines, and airmen at various stations, including Virginia, California, and Japan. In his final assignment, he supervised clinical operations at two dental clinics on Naval Base Ventura County in California.

In the Navy Dental Corps, Dr. Bennitt embraced the motto “Fit to bite, fit to fight,” a principle he continues to uphold in private practice. He is committed to ensuring every patient achieves a pain-free, functional, and healthy mouth capable of meeting life’s challenges. Emphasizing conservative dentistry, he adheres to a minimally invasive approach, treating only what is necessary while integrating cutting-edge technology to deliver same-day dental solutions. That’s why Dr. Bennitt maintains memberships in esteemed professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Delaware State Dental Society, and the Academy of General Dentistry.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Originally from West Chester, PA, Dr. Bennitt and his family eagerly anticipated their return to the East Coast, settling in southern Delaware. He treasures the opportunity to forge new connections and create lasting memories in the area alongside his wife and sons. Their shared passions include hiking, skiing, and enjoying the beach together.
