Cone Beam CT (CBCT) Scanner

In order for Dental Associates of Delaware to offer optimal care for all patients, we offer CBCT imaging at the Hockessin and Brandywine, DE offices. Unlike a standard two-dimensional X-ray, a CBCT provides a unique three-dimensional scan of the bone, teeth, nerves, blood vessels, and soft tissues, allowing a view of the anatomy from multiple perspectives. Furthermore, a CBCT scan has been deemed faster and safer than the traditional CT scan; the patient can receive a full CBCT scan in less than one minute, dramatically decreasing the patient’s exposure to radiation. CBCT imaging is ideal for use with dental implant procedures due to the high quality of imaging, along with the lower doses of radiation exposure. Using this software, we have the tools to plan implant placement virtually for the best outcome. With the ability to visualize vital structures in 3D, our dentists can identify infections and tumors at early stages, as well as diagnose and treat a wide range of clinical conditions with confidence.

IntraOral Cameras

Digital Intra Oral Cameras allow our dentists in Brandywine, Hockessin, Middletown, Newark, Wilmington, and Millsboro, DE to show the patient color images inside their own mouth. The patient is able to see, along with his or her dentist, where an area of concern has presented itself. The intra-oral cameras allow us to take photographs throughout the different stages of a procedure being performed. Patients are able to see the process from start to finish through these images.

Computerized Patient Info

Software designed to digitally and accurately record and display all patient information including, prior procedures, planned procedures, medical history and digital radiographs. Patients and dental specialists are able to view all radiographs and intra-oral photographs through the Computerized Patient Software System monitors in each operatory.

Laser Cavity Detector

Early detection is the key to preventing severe dental complications, so our family dentists in Brandywine, Hockessin, Middletown, Newark, Wilmington, and Millsboro, DE utilize the most advanced technology available to assist them in detecting cavities at their earliest stages. Conventional methods for detecting cavities are helpful, but often times only 50 to 75 percent successful. This method of detection is often limited based on the location and depth of the cavity. To increase our patients’ possibility of keeping healthy teeth for a lifetime, we utilize laser cavity detection technology that recognizes decay and cavities at the earliest stages.

Using laser diode technology, laser cavity detectors are able to compare the reflection wavelength of a tooth against a healthy baseline wavelength to reveal decay. Laser cavity detection has been proven to be over 90% successful in detecting even the smallest lesions that aren’t even noticed on X-rays!

This procedure is simple, quick and pain free, and most of all, it helps preserve the overall health of your teeth!

Ultrasonic Tooth Cleaner

The ultrasonic tooth cleaner removes plaque and calculus from the teeth through ultrasonic vibrations. The ultrasonic cleaner reaches farther below the gum line than ordinary scalers. Our dental hygienists are able to adjust the speed and power of the ultrasonic scaler in order to achieve greater patient comfort while cleaning below the gum line.

TENS Unit

We use this device to adjust a patient’s bite. It relaxes the muscle controlling the jaw through mild electrical stimulation. Adhesive patch electrodes are attached over nerves that control specific facial muscle groups. When the machine is activated and in place it will cause your facial and jaw muscle to twist or pulse every one and one half seconds. This procedure is virtually painless and available at our Hockessin and Brandywine office locations.

Digital Smile Imaging

Have you wondered what it would be like with straighter teeth? Or perhaps you’ve always wanted to close the gap in your front teeth but weren’t sure how it would change your smile. With digital smile imaging, now you can see what your smile could look like even before we begin your dental treatment.

Digital imaging technology is used by our cosmetic dentists in Brandywine, Hockessin, Middletown, Newark, Wilmington, and Millsboro, DE to show you the physical aspect of your planned dental care even before treatment begins.

The benefits are many for each patient, and here are just a few:

You can see what your smile could look like before treatment begins.

It illustrates the extent of change possible with aesthetic dentistry.

It allows for more discussion with your dentist to talk about specific areas.

It helps you pre-plan for treatment time and financing.

It establishes realistic expectations for you and your dentist.

It’s fun and painless!

Cadent iTero

The Cadent iTero digital impression system completely eliminates the conventional use of trays with putty for getting impressions of the patient’s crown or bridge area. This means more comfort for our patients. With Cadent iTero we can digitally capture the patient’s tooth surfaces and gum tissues and turn them into a 3-D image.
